NIX 8 Inch Digital Photo Frame. Motion Sensor turns frame ON/OFF automatically when it senses you nearby!

Product Description

Why bother turning your frame on and off all the time? Featuring an inbuilt motion sensor, the frame will turn itself on when it senses any motion and off again when it senses no motion. This frame is perfect for parents and grandparents who just want a frame that works, without the hassle of having to actually operate it. As well as it's ease of use; the frame features a high resolution SVGA screen with LED backlighting. Importantly the frame will also play your MPEG-4 / .AVI video, JPEG photos and MP3 music. The motion sensor is very easily set up and can be set to switch off after sensing no movement in time increments from 30 seconds to 1 hour. When the frame activates after sensing movement it can play either your photos (from where it left off in the slideshow), videos or music. The choice is yours. Additional features include an auto rotate sensor that flips your photos 90 degrees when you physically rotate the frame. This optimizes the use of the screen for your portrait (vertical) photos. Ideal for showing off that holiday you just got back from! Remember that connecting the frame to external speakers via the audio jack allows for an even richer sound experience.

  • Why bother with the fuss of turning your frame ON or OFF again with a motion sensor!
  • LED Backlit 800 x 600 pixels Hi Resolution Panel with LED Backlighting (4:3 ratio)
  • Photo, Video, MP3 Music, Auto Rotate Sensor and Split Screen Image Option
  • Remote Control, Accepts SD/SDHC Cards, USB Stick / Thumb Drive. Windows PC Compatible only
  • Motion Sensor automatically turns the frame on and off when you enter or leave the room

5.0 out of 5 stars The NIX X08A vs. the NIX X07B (and other 7" frames), April 12, 2010

This review is from: NIX 8 Inch Digital Photo Frame. Motion Sensor turns frame ON/OFF automatically when it senses you nearby! (Electronics)
Amazon's introductory prices for these NIX digital frames were enough in themselves to catch my attention. I started with the 7" model and, though my expectations were not high, sensed that the combination of the extra wide dimensions (necessitating constant repositioning of the frame) and lackluster resolution would result in my finding little if any use for the frame. NIX customer support was so helpful that I decided to stay with the brand but to move up to this 8" model. It's all the difference in the world and well worth the extra expense. First, the 4:3 dimensions of this frame assure that you can load it, start it, and forget it. No need to turn the frame on its long end to fill the frame for every vertically-oriented image. Even with auto rotation and split screen features, the extra wide (16:9) screens, or aspect ratios, of the lower-priced NIX and some of the other "stretched" frames introduce problems because of the different orientations of shots and the cropped or... 3.0 out of 5 stars Decent for price with room for improvement, July 8, 2010

This review is from: NIX 8 Inch Digital Photo Frame. Motion Sensor turns frame ON/OFF automatically when it senses you nearby! (Electronics)
I was looking for a digital frame for my husbands office and decided on the NIX x08A frame based on the affordable price. It was $10 dollars less than a Kodak digital photo frame (Kodak Easyshare P730m) with the added capability of playing videos and music.

Pros:
- Frame was delivered super fast (two days) and shipping was free.
- Setups between two frames is fairly easy when using a usb flash drive. The NIX does have a remote which helps to keep fingerprints off frame. The Kodak menu is a bit more sophisticated and pretty to look at.
- I like the built in frame stand on the NIX.
-Sound is decent when playing videos. Did not try playing music on this frame.

Cons:
-The screen quality was not as vibrant as the Kodak EasyShare. I tried adjusting the contrast and brightness but the Kodak frame was just superior straight out of box.
-The buttons on the back of frame is a bit sticky and I had to push really hard before it responded... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Value and Crisp Image Toooo!, April 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: NIX 8 Inch Digital Photo Frame. Motion Sensor turns frame ON/OFF automatically when it senses you nearby! (Electronics)
Quite simple really, if you want a straight forward frame that works straight out of the box and does the following:

-Crisp hi-res image
-Plays photo, video and sound/music
-Can play your photos in random order
-looks good
-very very easy to use

then this frame ticks the boxes. I really like the split screen function as well (well actually my daughter does). I also like that the stand folds away back inside the frame so you can't lose it. I would write a more detailed review, but the frame seems quite straight forward as advertised so need for many words.

4.0 out of 5 stars A clever Wi-Fi enabled frame, but it has its limitations., March 26, 2010

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
The Kodak Pulse digital frame is a nicely designed Wi-Fi enabled frame that you manage through a website. It's an excellent frame for the most part but there are some things I wasn't fond of.

Design wise it is a nice looking frame with a glossy black front and a chrome strip running around the edge. It reminds a lot of the iPhone aesthetic. I especially like the fact that the Kodak logo on the front of the frame is very subtle. On the back of the frame is a door that covers the memory card / USB jump drive slots, a power button, and a status check button. The frame is primarily controlled via its touch screen and the Kodak Pulse website. The touch screen itself is very nicely done. It's quite accurate and responds to the first touch most of the time. You can swipe your finger across the screen to flick through the photos like an iPhone too. While the frame is light in weight the built quality is nice and it feels solid. To store your photos there is 512MB of... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A very clever digital frame, February 28, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I've had this for a couple of days now and have to say that Kodak really has a winner on its hands with the Pulse. Kodak has solved the "last mile" problem with photo frames by creating such an easy way to get photos onto the Pulse. After receiving it you create an email address at [...] and simply email photos to that address. It takes about three minutes from emailing a photo to the Pulse to when it shows up on it. Let your friends and family know the email address and they can send photos to it too.

Setting up the Pulse is easy and takes about 10 minutes from unboxing it to displaying photos on it. The frame first connects to the internet via your WiFi and then displays an activiation code. You then go to [...] and create a user account and email address by keying in this activation code. After that you can start emailing photos to your new email account. In addition you can also have it display photos from your facebook or Kodak Gallery accounts.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea but Falls Short on Delivery, October 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
The other reviews lead me to believe this was the frame I was looking for - remote management of photos for my parents, what a great idea. It is a great idea, but so far their implementation falls short of that goal.

Please note that I actually bought a Second Pulse frame from a local store because I couldn't believe the issues I was encountering. With both frames running side by side it is pretty certain that the issues I am experiencing are not isolated to just my frame or frames, but rather are shortcomings in how Kodak has set up the frames and their intended interaction - or lack thereof - with the Kodak Pulse website.

Here are the fundamental issues and problems:
- Pulse Frames do not return information to the Kodak Website.
- Kodak Website's report of photos on the Frames may not be correct.
- No ability for remote delete of ALL Pulse Frame photos.
- No ability for remote awarness of incomplete transfer.
- No refresh from... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice Digital Picture Frame, November 28, 2009
This review is from: Pandigital PanImage PI1003DW 10.1-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Black) (Electronics)
Got this as a Christmas present for my mom. Loaded some test pictures on there just to ensure picture quality was good and that it worked reasonably well. Have read some reviews (while researching DPFs) that some DPFs are not worth buying. Issues with picture quality and ease of use.

There are two ways you can put pictures on this frame. There is a memory card slot in the back and you can also connect this unit to your computer with the supplied USB cable.

I had no problem connecting and uploading 20 mb of pictures. Display quality is excellent. It does auto crop pictures so that they don't looked stretched or distorted.

I read another review about how to adjust picture sizes so that this unit does not have to auto crop.

Although I haven't used the ap to auto crop yet, basically you have to download Microsoft Photo Story from microsoft to do so. I'm sure there are other apps, free or otherwise that do so.

Very happy with this... Read more

This review is from: Pandigital PanImage PI1003DW 10.1-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Black) (Electronics)
I got this photo frame for my father for Christmas and filled it with some pictures before I wrapped it. My parents divorced when I was 7, and somehow my father didn't seem to receive any of the pictures of my me and my twin sister after my folks had split. When I graduated college my mother made me a scrapbook and my father, looking through it, mentioned that he didn't have any of these pictures and "that's where they all went". So I took my Canon scanner and took some pages out of my scrapbook, and scanned some of the photos to put in this frame, which gave me a pretty good indication of how this product works.

Pros:

It's a nice looking frame. It can hang on the wall, which is a must for my dad and stepmom, who have a two year-old at home. It also has a plastic fold-out leg to sit on a table. The leg actually comes out and extends, which was not glaringly obvious at first. I only figured it out after the frame slid over several times.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not impressed, December 26, 2009
This review is from: Pandigital PanImage PI1003DW 10.1-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Black) (Electronics)
I received the 10" Pandigital Picture Frame for Christmas. It works okay, but its memory is bad. I was only able to load 45MB onto the 512MB internal memory. Anything after that, it says there is no space on the device even though it says there is 430MB of free space. I would not buy this brand myself and if I was to buy a digital picture screen I probably would go for the HP DreamScreen though it costs quite a bit more. Once I had my pictures installed though it seems to work okay though I will probably buy a SD card and use that instead of its internal memory.
