5.0 out of 5 stars Simple no frills frame with a great picture, December 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Kodak Easyshare P85 8-inch Digital Frame (Electronics)
Hi,

I purchased this frame on sale at Amazon for $50. There are other reviews on this frame, some of which come from a Vine program Amazon runs where people get the item to review for free. So far I am less than thrilled with their reviews. In reading them you get the sense that either they have done no research on other frames, and therefore judge the Kodak frame too harshly. Or you get the sense that they did not spend much time with the frame before they kicked out a review.

So, I purchased this frame myself. And I have been looking into frames for a while. It always seemed that frames were too expensive or too cheap. And either way, the frames would not work as expected. Most digital frames do not come with a rechargeable battery. And the Kodak P85 is in the same boat. Quite a few frames will play video and music. The Kodak P85 does neither, however it is not very expensive. Most frames come with some internal memory. The Kodak P85 does not. So... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Setup, Easy to Use, Good Display, What's not to Like?, October 23, 2010

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
In the past, I've found Kodak digital products to be just slightly off kilter when it came to set-up and operation. There always seemed to be a slight learning curve. The Easyshare P85 may represent a new wave of Kodak products. The P85 comes with a handy illustrated quick-start booklet, that obviously was NOT translated from the original Chinese or Korean. Three steps and it's up and running. It was very intuitive and obvious. I haven't found any way to adjust brightness or saturation. But as is, the picture is bright and sharp. My frame is sitting in a brightly lit office and the P85 needs every watt of light to display well and it does the job.

With price of USB flash drives dropping like rocks, I loaded every picture I have on a 16GB flash drive. Every one of my boring, hackneyed, self-indulgent photos is now on display to an unprepared public.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
In reviewing the P85 digital picture frame, I'm a little torn on how to rate it.

Remember, anyone who has it listed as being part of the Vine program, like myself, received this item for free from Amazon. I am basing my review on how satisfied I would be if I had purchased it myself. And I would say I would be only slightly satisfied at best and would likely return it for something with on board memory if I were purchasing this myself.

Considering that, here's how I view it:

What I liked:

-Ease of use
-Brightness of the display

What I don't:

-Lack of transition effects (it has some, but nothing amazing)
-Requirement of an extra memory card/USB device; no built in memory
-Can't run on batteries
-Price
-Image quality
-ADVERTISING IMAGES EMBEDDED IN SLIDE SHOWS

To qualify the image quality statement, the colors seem washed out on the screen on nearly all the pictures I've copied... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything You Should Need in a Photo Frame, and Then Some, November 22, 2010
By
Terry Sunday (El Paso, Texas United States) - See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE)    (TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
The main reason I decided to buy a digital photo frame is because printing out photos from my Sony DSC-H5 on an Epson PictureMate to share with the family got pretty tiresome. Sure, the prints looked good, but printing them took a long time, they cost about 35 cents apiece and some of the older relatives couldn't see them very well. I figured a digital photo frame would improve the whole process. My requirements were simple: the frame must have very high resolution, be small and lightweight (for packing in a carry-on suitcase), and accept images via a Memory Stick and also via a standard USB interface (which many, I found, do not).

The Sony DPF-D810 meets all of my requirements with flying colors. The 800-by-600-pixel 8-inch-diagonal display is clear, crisp, bright and saturated. Photos display instantly, either singly, until you manually advance them, or in a slideshow with your choice of 10 time intervals from three seconds to 24 hours and with your choice of six... 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Frame, Lots of Features, December 18, 2010
By
Joelamite (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
I just loaded this frame up with pictures of the kids for grandma, and can say that this frame is a much better choice for the price than other brands.

I really wanted to offer a contrast to the only review (so far) for this product, since I had a far different experience.

There are many menu options to customize the viewing experience, including a setting to change the delay between pictures from 3 seconds to 24 hours. There are also nine different types of slideshows, plus a random mix of those types available.

Also in the menu options is a Shuffle option to randomize the order of your pictures.

I chose to resize the photos to match the display resolution of the frame (800X480). This dropped the size from 2+ mb per picture to around 50 kb per picture, and they are virtually indistinguishable from a regular viewing distance. At the moment, there are 500+ pictures in the internal memory, with more than half of the room left... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Did my research...this is a keeper :), December 11, 2010

I'm the one in the family...and extended family...that does the shopping for electronics/digital products. You know me, many of you have that guy in your own families or group of friends.
When I decided to buy digital frames for my parents and my wife for this Christmas, I did a lot of research and looked at a lot of digital frames. I read a lot of reviews as well and compared many of the features available. Here's what I liked about the Sony DPF-D810 8-inch SVGA Frame:

Simply to use, yet has advanced features that you don't get in this price range
Sturdy, well thought-out design (even the remote is sturdy...many have flimsy remotes that are useless)
4:3 format...standard photo size, so it doesn't undesirably crop your precious photos
Allows the use of all standard memory cards to include USB thumb drives -great for anyone that might be technically challenged
It's not a knock-off brand and was obviously well tested..I didn't have to wonder how... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Good hardware, mediocre software, October 16, 2010
This review is from: Kodak EasyShare P750 7-inch Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
I bought this picture frame for my mom. I needed something that is simple to use and "just works".
We like the frame itself. It is modern and compact (small overall size comparing to picture area). I like the way it automatically rotates pictures when the frame is rotated. The only problem that doing that, it is easy to press the buttons on the back of the frame. If it happens, my mom gets confused what to do next (i.e. how to return to slide mode). Also, the buttons on the back, and particularly the d-pad, are difficult for her to use. Fortunately, there is also a remote with visible and better buttons.
When it comes to hardware, I particularly appreciate the large internal 2GB memory. But not just memory. While the copy process is very slow, it does wonders to space utilization. I guess it must be resizing the pictures to match the frame resolution. Anyway, my estimate is that the frame can fit about 10,000 pictures, regardless of their original total size.
The weak... Read more

This review is from: Kodak EasyShare P750 7-inch Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
I bought this item for my wife, as a Christmas present after having an enormous amount of Digital photo frames to chose from I finally chose this one.

And I can say that im not too disappointed.

Although I haven't used this for a long period (had to wrap it) I am happy with the purchase. It took around 30 seconds to transfer 129 photos to the internal memory with a standard USB pen drive. When you plug your USB in, a pop up appears asking if you would like to transfer pictures to the internal memory with the option to select all or manually choose which ones you want to add and VOILÀ!

Once you plug in, the first thing your asked to do is set up the time and date, It takes approx 5mins to set up.
Regarding the photos you cant change the timing for when the pictures move, it has around 6 pre-set times which all have a their own settings. Slow (changes once a day) to fast (changes every so many seconds)

The Date and Calender can... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Good frame, bad tech support, strange software., December 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Kodak EasyShare P750 7-inch Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
Let me start by saying that I am finally satisfied with these frames (I bought 5 of them for Christmas presents) but it was a long and frustrating road to get there.

What I wanted was a frame that would recognize keyword tags that I applied to the photos, and allow the users to display their own custom slide shows of family members. According to the description on this page, this frame fit the bill. I tagged about 3500 photos in a third party application, copied them to a flash drive, and attempted to upload them. This was very slow, and the keyword tags were not available on the frame.

Tech support wasn't very helpful. Here is the upshot. You need to use a recent version of the Kodak EASYSHARE software to load the images into the frames, if you want the metadata to be useful. The problem is that only the windows version is keyword tag aware. The mac version does read the date tag metadata correctly, but doesn't understand keyword tags. It seems likely... Read more
