4.0 out of 5 stars Low-priced, entry-level frame that may not satisfy all tastes, April 9, 2010

No doubt some shoppers will be attracted to this particular frame because of the "value" price. If so, rest assured that it's a quality item made by a new and unfamiliar company (to U.S. customers) that offers highly responsive customer support. When I was somewhat disappointed with the resolution of images despite the modest price (even lower in its Amazon debut), I sent a couple of e-mails to NIX, both receiving immediate and helpful responses. On the basis of the information provided, I moved up to the NIX XO8A frame which, I discovered, represents more recent technology. The resolution was considerably sharper (close to that of a new computer screen), and the 8" dimensions I found more satisfying than the 7" screen for one overriding reason: whether viewed vertically or horizontally, the image was clear and vivid--large enough, in fact, that it was possible to enjoy rectangular-oriented and vertical-oriented images equally without rotating the frame. With the 7" model, on the... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, November 29, 2010
This review is from: NIX 7 Inch Hu-Motion Digital Photo Frame - X07E. Motion Sensor turns frame ON/OFF automatically when it senses you nearby. (Electronics)
I am content with this frame. I received it as a gift. The resolution is crisp, the pictures generally look good.

A couple minor issues, though: the instructions that come with the frame are HORRIBLE. There isn't really that much functionality here; there's no reason they could not have written up better instructions.

Also, my pictures come out a little "stretched" horizontally. No, I do not have the aspect ratio on "stretch"--I have it on "original" ratio. I wish there were a way to tweak the display slightly. Does anyone know how to do that?

Still, the pictures are displayed very crisply, and for the price I believe the gift-giver paid, I am happy with the frame.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Digital frame I could find for the price range, July 21, 2010

This review is from: NIX 7 Inch Hu-Motion Digital Photo Frame - X07E. Motion Sensor turns frame ON/OFF automatically when it senses you nearby. (Electronics)
Me and my friend both bought ourselves 3 different digi-photo frames each, within the price range of $30-$60. So among all those 6 different photo frames, this one was the best. It has a lot of functionalities, with a pretty cool auto rotate function. It has a remote, and differnt photo presentation formats. It's very compact, with a small frame so you get to maximize the 7" screen. Above all, it accepts usb sticks, which to me is more practical than always using sd cards.

The only thing I could wish for is a slightly better resolution. I mean, the resolution is good enough, just a tad bit pixelated. But oh well, what did you expect for the price?

[ September 2007 ]

Good:

- Bright high-resolution display. (Watch out for the DPF-0801, lower resolution and less internal memory.)

- MosaicView is occasionally nice, though we don't usually use it. With it, you get a new picture every few seconds but any given picture stays displayed for 4x as long.

- It hung when I had a 0-length JPEG file, but otherwise has been 100% reliable for displaying stills.

Bad:

- Does not include a USB cable to connect it to a computer.

- When I tried connecting it to a computer, the connection was unreliable. However, I wasn't planning to use the internal memory anyway, so I didn't try to figure out where the problem was - could have been the frame, the computer, or the cable. I use pictures on memory cards.

- Memory Stick protrudes past the right edge of the frame. SD is better.

- If you have many pictures and want to select a particular one to... Read more

800x600pixels, USB/miniUSB to 128MB internal, all common cards, 6 3/8" x 4 3/4" display area (8" diagonal), 10" x 8 3/8" outer frame dimensions (measured).
No extra border between lcd and frame -nice.
Retains last setting after being unplugged (checked up to 24 hours).
Nice display quality.
Outer frame is quite nondescript, a plus as it does not compete with images. Does not look 'cheap' or flimsy, some others do.
Whining sound is a non-issue.

---

Professionally, I'm an imaging scientist (not kidding, we really exist), so choosing this model took a fair bit of time thanks to the relatively difficult process of finding any technical description of the photo frames currently on the market, or even accurate general descriptions for that matter. Then there is the issue that most of these are not available to see in a store.

The goal:
..to find a frame for my grandparents, who are not computer... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars The creme de la crem of smaller picture frames, hi-res and full on memory., May 1, 2007

Wiseguy 945 (Cedar Rapids, IA) - See all my reviews

This is a bit more in price than some of the smaller frames, but this one is outstanding in quality. Again, it has the standard multi-media card reader, MP3/MPEG playback, and 128mb internal memory (model 801 westinghouse has only 8mb). But the greatest feature of this model is the 800x600 pixel quality high resolution screen, which is even better than the 10 inch frame by westinghouse(800x480). Hard to beat quality for about $60 more than standard 7" frames with 480x234 quality. This frame also features the mosaic view (4 pictures side by side rotating), which is great looking on the high resolution. Check this one out, worth the investment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the (sale) price, December 14, 2008
By
alildev2 (Lakeland, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Optimus 7" Digital Photo Frame (Electronics)
Nice frame for the price. Was on sale for $49.99, regular price $79.99. I would not have paid full price. It works good and the pictures look clear, however, it does not tell you until after you purchase the frame that it's 16:9 instead of 4:3 which means your regular size photos will not fill the screen. You'll have "black bars" on both sides of the photo. If the photo is panoramic then yes it will fill up the whole 7" space but how often doesn't anyone take those size photos. If you don't mind the black bars then yes buy this frame but wait until it's on sale. It's not fancy but it'll do what it's intended to do.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent, December 21, 2008
This review is from: Optimus 7" Digital Photo Frame (Electronics)
This product is decent for the price, but be warned that the resolution is not all that great and the display options are limited. It's a great gift for someone who would like to be able to see family photos but who doesn't necessarily need sharp images. Overall, for the price, a good buy.
