3.0 out of 5 stars 3rd Edit of my review, May 20, 2011

This review is from: FrameWizard 8-Inch Digital Picture Frame Includes MatteMagic, ElementEffects, and MovingMemories (Black) (Electronics)
I was really excited to get this in the mail. The front of the frame is glass and the pictures are very clear. My complaint, and reason for 2 stars, is I installed the DVD and was ready to add effects to my pictures and the software is missing Moving Memories effects to alter people or pets! This is the main reason I got the frame. It has effects for fire, water, sky and lights and that's it. If you go on the website, their FAQs only have 3 simple questions and the website only works about 50% of the time. The software is buggy. It crashed on my multiple times in the hour I have messed around with it. If they can fix this so that the software does what they advertise, I will definitely change my rating, but until they do, they only deserve 2 stars.

***Update***

I changed this to one star because I failed to try out the pictures I spent an hour editing and sending to my frame. I followed the directions exactly and used the remote to select "slide show" on the... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fun and Impressive Device... Just Toss the Software..., October 27, 2011

The Windows minimum requirements of a 1.4 GHz, or faster, processor applies to their supplied software only -and not the Frame Wizard device.

I had excellent and immediate results by simply plugging in the 8" Frame Wizard 5VDC power adapter, and then connecting the 8" Frame Wizard to my laptop, with the supplied USB cable (standard USB-A plug on one end, and, a smaller, USB-B plug, aka mini-USB, on the other end).

My trusty 9-year old 1.0 GHz Windows XP laptop, with 1.1 USB ports, immediately recognized the device [shows up as a new external hard drive: "FRAMEWIZARD (E:)"] and a simple click-and-drag process of AVI movies, MP3 music, and photos, into the 2GB internal memory, had me up-and-running in no time -without installing any software whatsoever.

Just remember that the Frame Wizard does not recognize folders, only files. So simply click-and-drag all your dissimilar files into the 2GB internal memory -or Secure Digital card (or MultiMediaCard,... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Not what they Promised - But They made it right., May 21, 2011

The description says:

"Imagine your children moving and blinking, your wedding photo suddenly smiling back at you, or even the family dog playfully wagging his tail."

I bought this 8" frame through the Amazon one deal a day subsidiary WXXT! and can still only imagine these wonderful effects. The software for this model does not include the people or animal effects. However, if you pay $300 for the 15" model, you appearently get them there.

UPDATE: Framewizard responded quickly to my complaint and promises to send me the correct software. They indicate the WXXT! version with the revised software is different from what is offered here.

The software, which is not at all intuitive and comes with almost no instructions, does allow you to do lighting, flowing water, and fireplace effects. Those work OK. However, the description here, as well as the sales video posted on both sites clearly show the people animation effects. There are no... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars It CAN play videos!, May 14, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Kodak EasyShare SV-710 7-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
I read a lot of mixed reviews about the Kodak SV710 7" digital frame and must agree with those who say it's a great product once you learn to work with how it works - much like many new electronic digital devices. The interface with the remote and frame is quite easy with a little time invested into it. PC connectivity is a cinch, no EasyShare software necessary, and is like turning the Kodak frame into a 'drag & drop' media bay.

It is incredibly important to be able to resize and crop larger raw digital camera or scanner images to the appropriate 800:480 [480:800 for portrait] dimensions. There is freeware on the web which is highly capable of this if you don't already have any. I've noticed a few people really not liking this and it's not all that bad. Widescreen is the fad these days anyway. Isn't panoramic a part of photography as well? My hundred-dollar Nikon digital camera has a setting for taking 16:9 pictures for lossless display on a widescreen. Kind of... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Kodak Easyshare SV-710 7-inch Digital Picture Frame, July 31, 2007

This review is from: Kodak EasyShare SV-710 7-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
This was very easy to use right out of the box. I was able to drag and drop pictures to it without using the Easy Share software.

I've had many compliments on this product, and people are surprised at the clarity of the pictures. I am very happy with it.

I find most of the comments here are for multiple versions of Kodak frames, so it is hard to tell which frame is being commented on.

2.0 out of 5 stars some disappointment in this frame, October 3, 2008

This review is from: Kodak EasyShare SV-710 7-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
I've used my digital frame for almost a year, and have been disappointed with some of my experiences with the frame. The biggest problem is that despite assurances from Kodak representatives that photos will displate in name order, they do not. I have not been able to determine any consistent way the frame displays photos -- not name, date, order placed on card, etc. There are also times that part way through a slide show, the frame just restarts from the beginning (or what it thinks is the beginning).

Also, I bought it knowing about the 16:9 aspect ratio, which has been more of a problem than I suspected. There are many pictures with important part of the picture chopped off at the top and bottom unless shown in the "fit entire image" option, which leaves black bars on either side of the photo.

This review is from: Sony DPF-D72 7-Inch LCD WVGA 16:10 Photo Frame (Black) (Electronics)
I purchased two of these as gifts and spent some time loading images onto each before giving them to others. While the manual was somewhat difficult to interpret, the actual process of getting images onto the frame could not have been easier. I have a mac and use iPhoto for images. The frame screen is 800x480 pixels, so I simply cropped a set of images to those dimensions and exported them as jpegs. I connected the frame using a USB cable (not included) and the frame popped up as an external device. I dragged my images onto the frame, unplugged the USB, and voila the frame rebooted and started displaying my images. Couldn't be easier.

Lots of extra options and settings to customize the experience, I left most of those alone except I did toggle the sony logo off on both of them since the frames look sleeker without the brand name.

Very happy; I'll likely pick up a third one of these for myself.

I liked this frame so much, I bought two. One for my parents and one for my family. The features are great, I like that it can double as a clock. Ease of use is well...easy! Pop in a memory card or plug into a PC via USB to use the 1gb of on board memory. Picture quality only slightly suffers when a picture outside the native display dimensions is loaded up. When a cropped picture for this frame is displayed, the results are spectacular. For a bigger room you probably want to get a bigger frame, but as an accent or in a smaller room I recommend this frame without hesitation.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK, March 7, 2010
This review is from: Sony DPF-D72 7-Inch LCD WVGA 16:10 Photo Frame (Black) (Electronics)
Having a hard time getting some of my pics to display properly and navigating through the frames menu was not easy to figure out. I thought it would be easy - size the imgages, drag and drop.
Not so, but the frame itself is nice and when I figure it out it will make a great additional to my living room.
